n. the exhilarating dread of finally pursuing a lifelong dream, which requires you to put your true abilities out there to be tested on the open savannah, no longer protected inside the terrarium of hopes and delusions that you created in kindergarten and kept sealed as long as you could, only to break in case of emergency.
well, for one, i like the lip ring. a lot. but for the most part? well, thinking about why i’m being told that i should/would/will regret it… when i announced my plans to get the piercing, reactions were varied. a lot. some were of the sort “cool!” and a lot were less positive, ranging from “that might be unprofessional looking…” to “you’re ruining your life.” but piercings can be removed. in fact, i doubt i’ll have this forever. i can take it out some day if i get sick of it or it becomes a problem.
i’d much rather look back on my early twenties and remember getting my lip pierced and loving it while i had it than look back and say “you know, i thought about getting a lip ring once, but i was too scared of what other people would think.”
i don’t regret getting my lip pierced, but i probably would regret not having gotten it pierced.
I get that you’re new here. You’re still learning. I appreciate that you didn’t spill my hot tea all over me like the last newbie I dealt with at this coffee shop. But in the future, customers don’t much care for it when you stick your nose in their drink and tell them how good it smells.
